\textit{N. Nakauchi} and \textit{Y. Takenaka} introduced symphonic maps in [Ric. Mat. 60, No. 2, 219--235 (2011; Zbl 1254.53095)]. The definition of a symphonic map is very similar to the definition of a harmonic map: it is as a stationary map of the functional \(E^{\text{sym}}\) given by the \(L^2\) norm of the pullback metric, i.e., if \(f:(M,g)\leftrightarrow(N,h)\), \(f\) is symphonic if it is a stationary map of the functional \(E^{\text{sym}}(f)=\int_M \|f\star h\|^2\,d V_g\). The paper has four sections: after the introduction, the authors make some preliminaries on the wedge product on section 2. In Section 3, the authors establish the main result: they characterize weak solutions by the wedge product. In the fourth and last section, the authors state a similar result for the case of heat flow equations.
