The authors consider the following problem: given a Banach space \(X\) of functions analytic in the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\) and a finite sequence \(z=(z_1,\ldots,z_n)\) of points in \(\mathbb{D}\), find the best possible interpolation of the traces \(f\vert z\), \(f\in X\), by functions from the space \(H^\infty\). Let \(B(X)\) be the unit ball of \(X\). A quantitative version of this problem concerns the quantity \[ c(z,X,H^\infty):=\sup_{f\in B(X)}\,\inf\big\{\|g\|_\infty:\ g(z_j)=f(z_j), \ j=1,\ldots,n\big\}. \] It is natural to study the asymptotic behavior of \(c(z,X,H^\infty)\) when the set \(z\) approaches the unit circle, and the cardinality \(n\to\infty\). The authors define \[ C_{n,r}(X,H^\infty):=\sup\big\{c(z,X,H^\infty): \ z\in\mathbb{D}^n, \ \max_j|z_j|\le r\big\}. \] Here is the main result of the paper. Theorem 2.1. Let \(n\ge1\), \(0\le r<1\), \(1\le p<+\infty\). Then \[ a_p\,\Bigl(\frac{n}{1-r}\Bigr)^{1/p}\le C_{n,r}(H^p,H^\infty)\le b_p\,\Bigl(\frac{n}{1-r}\Bigr)^{1/p}, \] with constants depending only on \(p\).
