The authors present a new finite difference scheme to approximate positive solutions of a modified hyperbolic Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovski-Piscounov equation. Such an equation appears for instance in the dynamics of some populations. The convergence order of the approximate solution is one in time and two in space. The scheme admits a nonnegative solution under some suitable conditions. Some numerical tests are presented to support the theoretical results.
