By a compact line, the authors mean a linearly ordered set that is a compact space in the topology generated by the base of open intervals. The main result of the authors states that if a compact line is fragmentable, then it is a Radon-Nikodým compact space. The proof makes use of a characterization of $\sigma$-scattered orders from the literature.
