    Let \(\alpha= -2+ i\) be a root of the polynomial \(p(x)= x^2+ 4x+ 5\). Then the pair \(\{p(x),\{0,1, 2,3,4\}\}\) forms a canonical number system. And \[ {\mathfrak I}= \Biggl\{\sum^{+\infty}_{i=1} a_i\alpha^{-i}: a_i\in \{0,1,2,3,4\}\Biggr\} \] is called the fundamental domain of the canonical number system. The main result is contained in two theorems. 1. Let \(\alpha= -2+ i\), \(N= \{0,1,2,3,4\}\) be the quadratic canonical number system, related to the polynomial \(p(x)= x^2+ 4x+ 5\). Let \({\mathfrak I}\) be the fundamental domain associated to \((\alpha, N)\). Then \(\text{Int}({\mathfrak M})\) is the component of \(\text{Int}({\mathfrak I})\) containing \(0\). Moreover, \(M\) is the closure of its interior, hence \({\mathfrak M}= C_0\), the closure of the component of \(\text{Int}({\mathfrak I})\) containing \(0\). 2. Let \(\alpha= -2+ i\), \(N= \{0,1,2, 3,4\}\), and \(p(x)= x^2+ 4x+ 5\), \({\mathfrak I}\) are as in 1, and denote by \(C_0\) the closure of the component of \(\text{Int}({\mathfrak I})\) containing \(0\). Then \[ \dim_H\partial C_0= {2\ln 3\over \ln 5}= 1.36521\dots\;. \]
