Let \(\mathcal A\) be a subspace arrangement in \(V\) with a designated maximal affine subspace \(A_0\). Let \({\mathcal A}'={\mathcal A}\setminus\{A_0\}\) be the deletion of \(A_0\) from \(\mathcal A\) and \({\mathcal A}''= \{A\cap A_0\mid A\cap A_0\neq \emptyset\}\) be the restriction of \(\mathcal A\) to \(A_0\). Let \(M=V\setminus\bigcup_{A\in{\mathcal A}}A\) be the complement of \(\mathcal A\) in \(V\). If \(\mathcal A\) is an arrangement of complex affine hyperplanes, then there is a split short exact sequence, \(0\to H^k(M')\to H^k(M)\to H^{k+1-\text{codim}_{\mathbf R}(A_0)}(M'')\to 0\). We determine conditions under which the triple \(({\mathcal A},{\mathcal A}',{\mathcal A}'')\) of arrangements of affine subspaces yields the above split short exact sequence. We then generalize the no-broken-circuit basis \(\mathbf{nbc}\) of \(H^k(M)\) for hyperplane arrangements to deletion-restriction subspace arrangements.
