The existence of elliptic invariant tori for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation \[ iu_t= u_{xx}- V(x)u- f(|u|^2)u\qquad (0\leq x\leq \pi,\,t\in\mathbb{R}), \] \[ u(t,0)= u(t,\pi)= 0, \] where \(V(x)\) is analytic in a strip \(|\text{Im\,}x|< r\) \((r> 0)\) and \(f\) real analytic in a strip in some neigbourhood of the origin with \(f'(0)= 0\) and \[ V'(0)- V'(\pi)+ \int^\pi_0 V^2(x)\,dx\neq 0 \] is established. The authors construct small amplitude solutions \(u(t,x)=u(\omega_1t,\dots, \omega_nt,x)\), where \(\omega_1,\dots, \omega_n\) are rationally independent real numbers as embedding \(U: T\to P\) of the torus into the phase space first for the linear case \((f= 0)\). Then, upon restoration of the nonlinearity, a large Cantor subfamily of full density at the origin persists and carries quasiperiodic motions of high mode.
