Let \(C\) be a smooth projective curve of genus \(g \geq 2\) and let \(L\) be a line bundle on \(C\) generated by its global sections, which gives rise to the morphism \(\Phi_L: C \to \mathbb{P}(H^0(L)) \cong \mathbb{P}^r\). In his PhD thesis [\url{http://www.imsc.res.in/~kapil/papers/chap1djvu/index.djvu}] Paranjiabe proved that the restriction \(\Phi^*_L {T_{\mathbb{P}^r}}\) to \(C\) of the tangent bundle of \(\mathbb{P}^r\) is semi-stable when \(\deg L \geq 2g-c(C)\), where \(c(C) = \min {c(L) = \deg L -2(h^0(C,L)-1) / h^i(C,L) \geq 2}\), \(i =0,1\), and gives stability conditions. The paper improves the above result by showing that if \(\deg L \geq 2g - c(C)\), then \(E_L\) is semi-stable; moreover it is stable unless \(\deg L = 2g\) and either \(C\) is hyperelliptic or \(L \cong K(p+q), p,q \in C\). The sharpness of the result is then established, and stability in the case of hyperelliptic curves is investigated, with a complete answer.
