A free boundary problem for a torrential flow (Q2427600)

Summary: A theoretical method based on the hodograph transformation is presented to solve the problem of an irrotational and steady flow of an inviscid and incompressible fluid, over a two-dimensional obstacle lying on the bottom of a channel. The suggested method for the solution of the fully non-linear problem is presented for a super-critical flow (Froude number \(\text{Fr} > 1\)). The results obtained are based on those established in [\textit{C. D. Pagani} and \textit{D. Pierotti}; J. Math. Anal. Appl. 240, No.~1, 60--79 (1999; Zbl 0940.35067); SIAM J. Math. Anal. 32, No.~1, 214--233 (2000; Zbl 0961.35180)].
