The author studies various extensions to more general mappings of the classical fixed point theorem for nonexpansive maps in order to prove that the limitations on the coefficients within the conditions on the mapping can be weakened a little. Moreover, he remarks that a substantial improvement probably requires additional assumptions, e.g., the compactness. Lastly, he proves an extension of Schauder's fixed point theorem to not necessarily continuous maps satisfying in a compact convex subset of a Banach space the condition \[ \| Tx- Ty\|\leq a\| x- y\|+ b\max(\| x- Tx\|,\| y- Ty\|) \] with \(a\geq 0\) and \(0< b< 1\).
