Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded Lipschitz domain in \(\mathbb R^n\) and let \(X(\Omega)\) be the restriction of a rearrangement invariant space \(X(\mathbb R^n)\) to \(\Omega\). Let \(\omega_{X(\Omega)} (f,t)_r\) be the \(r\)-modulus of continuity of \(f\in X= X(\Omega)\), where \(r \in \mathbb N\). Then the generalized Besov space \(B^{\rho}_{X,q} (\Omega)\) is normed by \[ \| f \, | B^{\rho}_{X,q} \| = \| f \, | X \| + \left( \int^1_0 \left( \frac{\omega_X (f,t)_r}{\rho (t)} \right)^{q} \, \frac{dt}{t} \right)^{1/q} \] with \(1\leq q \leq \infty\), where \(\rho (t)\) stands for smoothness (\(\rho (t) =t^{\sigma}\), \({\sigma}>0\), is the classical case) and \(r \in \mathbb N\) is sufficiently large. Special cases are the classical Besov spaces and also the spaces \(B^{(s, \Psi)}_{pq} (\Omega)\) of generalized smoothness. It is one of the main aims of this paper to prove sharp assertions of the type \[ \left( \int^1_0 f^{**} (s)^q w(s) \, ds \right)^{1/q} \leq c \, \| f \, | B^{\rho}_{X, q} \|, \] where \(w(s)\) is the naturally related associated weight of \(B^{\rho}_{X,q}\) (Theorems 2--4). This is an interesting generalisation of the theory of growth envelopes for generalised Besov spaces on \(\mathbb R^n\). There are further estimates of this type involving related Sobolev spaces and sharp embedding assertions.
