A conjecture by Kuperberg says that the functional \[ \phi(K)=\frac{1}{| K| | K^{\circ}| }\int_K\int_{K^{\circ}}\langle x,y\rangle^2\,dydx, \] defined for centrally symmetric convex bodies, is maximized by ellipsoids. Here \(| K| \) denotes the volume of \(K\) and \(K^{\circ}\) represents its polar body. In this paper the author shows that the above conjecture implies both, the Blaschke-Santaló inequality, \(| K| | K^{\circ}| \leq| B^n_2| ^2\), and the hyperplane conjecture, which says the existence of an absolute constant \(C\) such that the isotropic constant \(L_K<C\) for every isotropic convex body \(K\). The author also verifies Kuperberg's conjecture for the family of all \(p\)-balls \(B^n_p\), \(p\geq 1\), i.e., \[ \max_{p\geq 1}\phi(B^n_p)=\phi(B^n_2)=\frac{n}{(n+2)^2}. \] Finally, the last section is devoted to study symmetric bodies of revolution: it is shown that there exists an absolute constant \(C\) such that for any such a body \(K\), \(\phi(K)<C/n\).
