Altering distances and fixed point results for tangential mappings (Q2428782)

The authors obtain a general fixed point theorem by altering distances for two occasionally weakly compatible (owc) pairs of mappings and reduce the study of fixed points for pairs of mappings satisfying a contractive condition of integral type to the study of fixed points in a metric space by altering distances satisfying a new type of implicit relation generalizing a main result of [\textit{H. K. Pathak} and \textit{N. Shahzad}, Bull. Belg. Math. Soc. -- Simon Stevin 16, No. 2, 277--288 (2009; Zbl 1167.54016)]. Their results complement and extend some others in the literature.
