Let \(X\) be a smooth projective variety defined over a number field \(K\) and let \(f\) be a dominant rational self-map of \(X\) defined over \(K\). Suppose that \(f\) is of infinite order. The main purpose of this paper is to show that there exist points in \(X(\bar{\mathbb Q})\) which are not preperiodic with respect to \(f\). Her argument employs the one used in [\textit{J. P. Bell, D. Ghioca} and \textit{T. J. Tucker}, Am. J. Math. 132, No. 6, 1655--1675 (2010; Zbl 1230.37112)] which proves a version of the ''dynamical Mordell-Lang conjecture'' for étale endomorphisms of quasiprojective varieties.
