(From the text) In the present paper, we deal with a stabilization method for smooth mappings \[ z_{k+1}=F(z_k,\mu),\;\;k=1,2,\dots, z_k\in{\mathbb R}^n, \mu\in{\mathbb R}. \] We present Magnitskii's method [\textit{N. A. Magnitskii} and \textit{S. V. Sidorov}, New methods for chaotic dynamics. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific (2006; Zbl 1119.37002)] in a simplified form. It turns out that the extension of the phase space of the original mapping is not essential to the method. To apply this method to systems of ordinary differential equations, one should use the technique of the Poincaré section and stabilize the cycles of the corresponding mapping. A stabilization method for periodic solutions of systems of differential equations was described in [loc. cit., 285--291]. In our opinion, stabilization in the Poincaré mapping of the system is a more efficient procedure.
