The authors study some transmission problems which are written as abstract second order differential equations of elliptic type with variable operator coefficients in the framework of Hölder spaces. More precisely, they consider the family of boundary value and transmission problems \[ \begin{cases} (u^{\delta})''(x)+A(x)u^{\delta}(x)-\lambda u^{\delta}(x) =g^{\delta}(x),\quad x\in (-1,0)\cup (0,\delta),\\ u^{\delta}(-1)=f_{-},\qquad (u^{\delta})'(\delta)=f^{\delta}_{+},\\ u^{\delta}(0^{-})=u^{\delta}(0^+), \quad p_{-}(u^{\delta})'(0^{-})=p_{+}(u^{\delta})'(0^+), \end{cases} \] where \(\{A(x)\}_{x\in [-1,\delta]}\) is a family of closed linear operators in some complex Banach space \(E\), with domains \(D(A(x))\) not necessarily dense in \(E\), \(\delta\) is a small positive fixed parameter in \((0,1]\), \(\lambda>0\) and \(g^{\delta}\) is such that \[ \left.g^{\delta}\right|_{[-1,0]}\in C^{2\alpha_0}([-1,0];E),\left. \qquad g^{\delta}\right|_{[0,\delta]}\in C^{2\alpha_0}([0,\delta];E), \] with \(0<2\alpha_0<1\). Elements \(f_{-},f^{\delta}_+\) are given in \(E\) satisfying some necessary and sufficient conditions, \(p_{-},p_+\) are the conductibility positive coefficients of the two bodies \((-1,0)\) and \((0,\delta)\), respectively, which may depend on \(\delta\). Under some additional conditions on the family \(\{A(x)\}_{x\in [-1,\delta]}\), the authors prove existence, uniqueness and maximal regularity of the strict solution of the above problem. Application of the obtained abstract results to partial differential problems are presented, when \(E=C([0,1])\) and \(E=L^p(\Omega)\), where \(\Omega\) is some open domain in \(\mathbb R^n\).
