The main objective of this interesting paper is to apply the saddle point approximation (SPA) and the Euler-Maclaurin formula to study the asymptotic behaviour (at large spin) of generic Wigner matrix elements, Wigner \(3j\) symbols and the character of generic \(SU(2)\) elements. It turns out that for the latter, the formula obtained for the character of an \(SU(2)\) element is exact. This suggests a relation with the so-called Duistermaat-Heckman localization property. The paper is completed with very extensive appendices providing explicit computations and formulae.
