In this very interesting paper, fixed point theory in the discrete setting is analyzed. The approach uses both the notion of integrally convex sets of \textit{P. Favati} and \textit{F. Tardella} [``Convexity in nonlinear integer programming'', Ricerca Operativa 53, 3--44 (1990)] and arbitrary discrete sets as well as the concept of local gross direction preserving mapping [\textit{Z.-F. Yang}, Math. Oper. Res. 33, No.~4, 976--990 (2008; Zbl 1218.90198)]. Some existence and uniqueness results for the fixed point and the zero point are given. Some applications to economics are also derived.
