The only known group theoretic limitation on the capitulation kernel of a finite unramified Galois extension of algebraic number fields with Galois group \(G\) is that it is a transfer kernel for \(G\). The authors showed [in J. Théor. Nombres Bordx. 12, No. 1, 219-226 (2000; Zbl 1009.11061); and part I, J. Algebra 300, No. 1, 35-43 (2006; Zbl 1111.20011)] that the class \(X(G)\) of transfer kernels for \(G\) is completely determined by its subclass \(\min X(G)\) of minimal transfer kernels. Moreover, \(\min X(G)\) is finite and its study reduces to the case when the order of \(G\) is a power of a prime number \(p\). Here they concentrate on the calculation of \(\min X(G)\) when \(G\) is a \(p\)-group, improving results of part I [loc. cit.] mainly by the use of stronger cohomological methods of construction. The foundation of these methods is the following generalization of Proposition 2 of part I [loc. cit.]. Extension theorem. Let \(H\) be a normal subgroup of \(G\), and \(\overline G=G/H\). Given an extension \(0\to X'\to X\to X''\to 0\) of Abelian groups with either \(X'\) in \(X(\overline G)\) and \(X''\) in \(X(H)\), or, \(X'\) in \(X(H)\) and \(X''\) in \(X(\overline G)\), then \(X\) is in \(X(G)\).
