Let's recall that \(\mathcal{HF}\) is the smallest class of groups which contains the class of finite group and whenever a group admits a finite dimensional contractible \(G\)-CW-complex with stabilizers in \(\mathcal{HF}\), then \(G\) is in \(\mathcal{HF}\). A group \(G\) is said to be an \(\mathcal{LHF}\)-group if every finitely generated subgroup of \(G\) is an \(\mathcal{HF}\)-group. A group \(G\) is of type \(\Phi\) if for any \(\mathbb ZG\)-module \(M\), \(M\) has finite projective dimension \(\text{pd}_{\mathbb ZG}M\) if and only if \(\text{pd}_{\mathbb ZH}M\) is finite for every subgroup \(H\) of \(G\). In this paper the author studies certain cohomological invariants for the class of \(\mathcal{LHF}\)-groups; in particular it is proved that, if \(G\) is an \(\mathcal{LHF}\)-group, then \(G\) is of type \(\Phi\) if and only if the finitistic dimension of \(\mathbb ZG\) is finite (\(\text{findim}(\mathbb ZG)<\infty\)).
