    A fuzzy set \(u\in [0,1]^\mathbb R\) is said to be a discrete fuzzy number if its support is finite and consisting of points \(\{x_1,\ldots, x_n\}\) such that there exist natural numbers \(s,t\) with \(1 \leq s \leq t \leq n\) such that (i) \(u(x_i) =1\) for \(i\) with \(s\leq i \leq t\), (ii) \(u(x_i) \leq u(x_j)\) for \(i,j\) with \( 1 \leq i \leq j \leq s,\) and (iii) \(u(x_i) \geq u(x_j)\) for \(i,j\) with \( t \leq i \leq j \leq n.\) The authors present a kind of representation. They show that the addition does not preserve the closeness and, henceforth, they give a new kind of addition of discrete fuzzy numbers.
