The authors use a bifurcation method and numerical simulation to study the compactons of the nonlinear dispersive equation \[ u_t+3uu_x-u_{xxt}-\gamma (2u_xu_{xx}+uu_{xxx})=0, \] where \(\gamma<0\) is a given parameter. They found new implicit expressions of the compactons given by inverse tangent functions.
