    The author has considered directed homotopy [\textit{M. Grandis}, Cah. Topol. Géom. Différ. Catég. 44, 281--316 (2003; Zbl 1059.55009)] in directed topological spaces which, instead of a fundamental groupoid, have a fundamental category. When it comes to the next higher homotopy, one might expect a fundamental bicategory, rather than fundamental 2-groupoid, for a directed space; but this is too strict. In [\textit{M. Grandis, ``Lax 2-categories and directed homotopy'', Cah. Topol. Géom. Différ. Catég. (to appear)], the author constructed a fundamental lax 2-category (one of several possible weakenings of the notion of bicategory) on a directed space. That paper raised a technical question about so-called absoluteness which the present paper resolves.}
