Let \(\Omega\) be a relatively compact open subset of a locally compact separable Hausdorff space \(X\) which is complete with respect to a (pseudo) metric \(d\), and let \(m\) be a given positive Radon measure on \(X\). The authors consider a family \((a_\varepsilon)_{\varepsilon>0}\) of regular symmetric Dirichlet forms with domain \(D_0\subset L^2(\Omega)\) which \(\Gamma\)-converge in \(L^2(X)\) to a Dirichlet form \(a\) as \(\varepsilon\to0\), and a family \(f_\varepsilon\in C^0(\overline{\Omega}\times\mathbb{R})\) so that \(f_\varepsilon(x,t)\to f(x,t)\) as \(\varepsilon\to 0\) for a.e. \(x\in\overline{\Omega}\) uniformly on bounded intervals of \(\mathbb{R}\). Finally, given a Lipschitz continuous map \(g:\overline{\Omega}\to\mathbb{R}^+\) and \(\lambda\in\mathbb{R}\) the paper deals with mountain pass and linking type solutions \(u_\varepsilon\in D_0\) of the problem \[ a_\varepsilon(u_\varepsilon, v) =\lambda\int_\Omega g(x)u_\varepsilon(x)v(x)\,dm +\int_\Omega f_\varepsilon(x,u_\varepsilon(x)) v(x)\,dm \] The equation is required to hold for all \(v\in D_0\). Under various hypotheses on \((a_\varepsilon)\) and \((f_\varepsilon)\) the authors prove that the solutions \(u_\varepsilon\) converge weakly in \(D_0\) towards a solution of the limit problem. The results apply to uniformly elliptic, nonlocal Dirichlet forms like \[ a_\varepsilon(u,v) =\int_\Omega \sum^n_{i,j=1} a^\varepsilon_{i,j}(x) u_{x_i} v_{x_j} \,dx+\int_\Omega \int_\Omega k_\varepsilon(x,y) u(y)\, dy \,dx \] and to nonlinearities like \[ f_\varepsilon(x,t)=\varepsilon^\alpha f(x,t/\varepsilon^\gamma)+f(x,t). \]
