    The asymptotic behaviour of the Gauss hypergeometric function \(F(a,b+1;c+2;z)\) for \(a\), \(b\in\mathbb C\), large \(c\in\mathbb C\) and \(| \arg(1-z)| <\pi\) is considered. In Theorem 1 it is proved that if in addition to the above conditions \(| b| | z| <| c-bz| \) and \(| c-b| | z| <| c-bz| \), then \[ F(a,b+1;c+2;z)=\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{(a)_kz^k}{k!(1-(b/c)z)^{k+a}} \Phi_k(b,c), \] where \(\Phi_k(b,c)=(-b/c)^kF(-k,b+1;c+2;c/b)\). This expansion has the additional property (Theorem 2) of being asymptotic for \(c\to\infty\) with fixed \(a\in\mathbb C\), \(-1<\text{Re} \,b<\text{Re}\,c+1\) and (i) \(0<b/c<1\) or (ii) \(0<\text{Re}\, b<c\), bounded \(b/c\) and \(z^{-1}\in\mathbb Z\backslash\Omega\) uniformly in \(b\) and \(z\).
