This book is a very complete reference for the topic of embedded random matrix ensembles in quantum physics. It starts with a short introduction in Chapter 1 that gives an overview of the history of the subject. In Chapters 2 and 3, the classical ensembles are introduced, and the rest of the text (Chapters 4--15) are devoted to embedded Gaussian ensembles and their applications. Chapter 16 contains a nice summary of the book, that in my view could have probably been included in the introduction. The book ends with eight appendices. Each chapter contains a list of references.
