    The authors deduce an observability inequality for a solution to the Breese system \[ \begin{cases} \rho _1\varphi _{tt}-\kappa (\varphi _x+\psi +lw)_x-\kappa_0l(w_x-l\varphi)+\alpha _1(x)g_1(\varphi _t)=0,\\ \rho _2\psi _{tt}-b\psi _{xx}+\kappa (\varphi _x+\psi +lw)+\alpha _2(x)g_2(\psi _t)=0,\\ \rho _1w _{tt}-\kappa_0(w_x-l\varphi)_x+\kappa (\varphi _x+\psi +lw)+\alpha _3(x)g_3(w _t)=0, \end{cases} \] for \(x\in (0,L)\), \(t\in (0,\infty )\) with the Dirichlet boundary conditions and with some initial data. Under some assumptions on the feedback functions \(g_1,g_2,g_3\) they prove the existence of \(T_0>0\) such that the energy of a strong solution to the problem satisfies the inequality \(E(t)\leq S(t/T_0-1)\) for all \(t>T_0\), where \(S(t)\) yields: \(S'(t)+ q(S(t))=0\), \(S(0)=E(0)\), \(\lim _{t\rightarrow \infty }S(t)=0\). The function \(q\) is given by \(g_1,g_2,g_3\).
