    Let \((X,d,\preceq)\) be a complete ordered metric space such that, if \(\{x_n\}\) is a non-decreasing sequence in \(X\) converging to some \(x\in X\), then \(x_n\preceq x\) for all \(n\in \mathbb{N}\). Let \(T\) and \(f_k\), \(k\in \mathbb{N}\), be a family of self-mappings on \(X\) and suppose that, for all \(i,j\in \mathbb{N}\) and all \(x,y\in X\) with \(Tx\), \(Ty\) comparable, we have \[ \psi(d(f_ix,f_jy))\leq\psi(M_{ij}(x,y))-\varphi(N_{ij}(x,y)), \] where \[ M_{ij}(x,y)=\max\{d(Tx,Ty),d(Tx,f_ix),d(Ty,f_jy),\frac12[d(Tx,f_jy)+d(f_ix,Ty)]\}, \] \[ N_{ij}(x,y)=\max\{d(Tx,Ty),d(Tx,f_jy),d(f_ix,Ty)\}, \] \(\psi:[0,+\infty)\to[0,+\infty)\) is an altering distance function, and \(\varphi:[0,+\infty)\to[0,+\infty)\) is a continuous function with \(\varphi(t)=0\) if and only if \(t=0\). Assume also the following: {\parindent=8mm\begin{itemize}\item[(i)] \(f_kX\subseteq TX\) for every \(k\in \mathbb{N}\); \item[(ii)] \(TX\) is a closed subset of \(X\); \item[(iii)] \((f_i,f_j)\) are partially weakly increasing with respect to \(T\) for all \(i,j\in \mathbb{N}\) such that \(j>i\), i.e., \(f_ix\preceq f_jy\) whenever \(Ty=f_ix\). \end{itemize}} Then the authors prove that \(T\) and \(\{f_k\}_{k=1}^{\infty}\) have a coincidence point \(u\in X\), that is, \(f_1u=f_2u=\dots=Tu\). An example of such a situation is presented.
