In the paper under review the authors consider the basic question of understanding the behavior of sequences of Kleinian groups. Let \(M\) be a compact, orientable, hyperbolizable 3-manifold with incompressible boundary. Let D\((\pi_{1}(M))\) denote the set of discrete faithful representations \(\rho:\pi_{1}(M)\rightarrow\text{ PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})\) equipped with the topology of algebraic convergence. The group Isom\(^{+}(\mathbb{H}^{3})\cong\text{ PSL}(2,\mathbb{C})\) of orientation-preserving isometries of hyperbolic 3-space acts on \(D(\pi_{1}(M))\) by conjugation. The quotient of \(D(\pi_{1}(M))\) by PSL\((2,\mathbb{C})\) endowed with the algebraic topology is denoted by AH\((\pi_{1}(M))\), which can be identified with the set of hyperbolic 3-manifolds homotopy equivalent to \(M\) up to isometry. Let SH\((\pi_{1}(M))\) be the set AH\((\pi_{1}(M))\) equipped with the strong topology. One can identify SH\((\pi_{1}(M))\) with the space of hyperbolic manifolds homotopy equivalent to \(M\) (up to isometry) equipped with a marked pointed Hausdorff-Gromov topology. Let D\((M)\) be the set of representations \(\rho \in D (\pi_{1}(M))\) that uniformize \(M\). Let AH\((M)\) (respectively SH\((M)\)) be the quotient of D\((M)\) by PSL\((2,{\mathbb{C}})\) endowed with the algebraic topology (respectively the strong topology). By the Ending Lamination Classification, together with some results in this paper, the authors show: {Theorem D. } The ending map that to a representation uniformizing \(M\) associates its end invariants is a homeomorphism from \(\text{SH}(M)\) into the set of doubly incompressible gallimaufries. (Where the term gallimaufry is defined in Section 2.8. of the paper under review; basically, a gallimaufry \(\Gamma=(F,m,L)\) on a compact orientable surface of genus at least 2 is an open, incompressible subsurface \(F\), a complete hyperbolic metric on \(F\) with finite area, \(m\), and a recurrent geodesic lamination on the complement of \(F\), \(L\), satisfying some additional conditions.) Using Theorem D and constructing appropriate paths in the space of doubly incompressible gallimaufries, the authors prove Theorems A and B: Theorem A. The space \(\text{SH}(\pi_{1}(M))\) is locally connected. Theorem B. Let \(\rho\in \text{{SH}}(\pi_{1}(M))\) be a representation uniformizing \(M\). Then every neighborhood of \(\rho\) contains a neighborhood \(V \subset \text{SH}(\pi_{1}(M))\) of \(\rho\) such that \(V \cap \text{int}(\text{SH}(\pi_{1}(M)))\) is connected. In the last section, they study the action of Mod\((M)\) on SH\((M)\) and obtain the following: Theorem C. Assume that M is not an I-bundle over a closed surface. Then the action of \(\text{{Mod}}(M)\) on \(\text{{SH}}(M)\) is properly discontinuous.
