Let \(G\) be a connected semisimple center-free Lie group, \(\Gamma\) be a lattice in \(G\) and let \(F = \{g_t~:~t \in \mathbb{R}\}\) be a one-parameter subgroup of \(G\) acting on \(G/\Gamma\) by translations. For a subset \(Z\) of \(G/\Gamma\), consider the set \(E(F, Z) = \{x \in G/\Gamma~:~\overline{Fx} \cap Z = \emptyset\}\) of points whose \(F\)-orbits stay away from \(Z\), and write \(E(F, \infty)\) for the set of bounded \(F\)-orbits. These are null sets with respect to \(F\)-ergodic measures of full support on \(G/\Gamma\). Nevertheless, there are situations when \(E(F, Z)\) is large and, for instance, has full Hausdorff dimension. When \(F\) is \textit{nonquasiunipotent}, i.e. \(\text{Ad}(g_1)\) has an eigenvalue of modulus different from \(1\), \textit{G. A. Margulis} conjectured [Proc. Int. Congr. Math., Kyoto/Japan 1990, Vol. I, 193--215 (1991; Zbl 0747.58017)] that the sets \(E(F, Z)\) are thick, i.e. their intersection with any open subset of \(G/\Gamma\) has full Hausdorff dimension. The first of his conjectures which concerned bounded orbits was proved by \textit{D. Y. Kleinbock} and \textit{G. A. Margulis} [in: Sinai's Moscow seminar on dynamical systems. Transl., Ser. 2, Am. Math. Soc. 171, 141--172 (1996; Zbl 0843.22027)]. In this significant paper, the authors prove the second conjecture in a stronger form, i.e. they show that for countable \(Z\), the sets \(E(F, Z)\) are \textit{winning} for a certain game introduced earlier by the authors in [Adv. Math. 223, No. 4, 1276--1298 (2010; Zbl 1213.11148)]. This game is a generalization of \textit{W. M. Schmidt}'s game [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 123, 178--199 (1966; Zbl 0232.10029)] and the winning sets for the game have many pleasant properties in addition to thickness. The reader will find a wealth of other interesting results in this well written paper.
