In this paper, the authors consider a model for growing cell population given by \textit{R. Rotenberg} [``Transport theory for growing cell populations'', J. Theoret. Biol. 103, No.~2, 181--199 (1983), \url{doi:10.1016/0022-5193(83)90024-3}]. There are some results for this model under different assumptions. In this paper, the authors investigate the model for simple reproduction laws. Some interesting existence and uniqueness results are obtained by using the theory of accretive operators and the theory of semilinear evolution equations.
