The aim of this paper is to consider the initial value problem for the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation \[ \begin{aligned}&u_{tt}-\Delta u+m^2u=|u|^pu,\\ &u(0)=u_0,\\ &u_t(0)=u_1,\end{aligned} \] in spatial dimensions \(d\geq2\) with \(0<p<\frac{4}{d-2}\) and \(m\in[0,1]\). The authors analyze the blowup behaviour of solutions to the focusing nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in spatial dimensions \(d\geq2\). They obtain upper bounds on the blowup rate, both globally in space and in light cones. The results are sharp in the conformal and sub-conformal cases. The argument relies on Lyapunov functionals derived from the dilation identity. They also prove that the critical Sobolev norm diverges near the blowup time.
