Let \(n_{1},n_{2},\ldots,n_{k}\geq2\) be integers for \(k\geq2\) and \(h_{1}(x),h_{2}(x),\ldots,h_{k}(x)\in\mathbb{F}_{q}(x)\). Consider the fibre product \[ y_{1}^{n_{1}}=h_{1}(x), y_{2}^{n_{2}}=h_{2}(x),\ldots, y_{k}^{n_{k}}=h_{k}(x). \tag{1} \] Let \(E\) be the algebraic function field \(E=\mathbb{F}_{q}(x,y_{1},y_{2},\ldots,y_{k})\) with the system of equations in (1). The authors assume that \([E:\mathbb{F}_{q}(x)]=n_{1}n_{2}\cdots n_{k}\) and the full constant field of \(E\) is \(\mathbb{F}_{q}\). Let \(P\) be a rational place of the rational function field \(\mathbb{F}_{q}(x)\). (In this work, the authors call a degree over place of an algebraic function field as a rational place (or rational point) of the function field.) In [Appl. Algebra Eng. Commun. Comput. 18, No. 5, 433--443 (2007; Zbl 1184.14035)], the authors gave the number of rational places of \(E\) over \(P\) when \(k=2\) under certain conditions. In this work, firstly they give the number of rational places of \(E\) over \(P\) for arbitrary \(k\geq2\) under some conditions in their main results. Secondly, they give explicit examples of fibre products of Kummer covers with many rational points including a record and two new entries for the table [\url{http://www.manypoints.org}, 2011]. On the proof of the main results, they use Proposition 3.7.3 in [\textit{H. Stichtenoth}, Algebraic function fields and codes. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1993; Zbl 0816.14011)] on Kummer extensions which allows one to determine the ramification and inertia indices of certain field extensions, explicitly.
