The concept of left *-ideal was introduced by \textit{M. Filipowicz} and \textit{E. R. Puczyłowski} [Zesz. Nauk. Politech. Bialost., Mat. Fiz. Chem. 20, 15-21 (2000; Zbl 1147.16300)]. Generalizing this, the authors introduce the notion of \(*(x,y,z)\)-ideal as follows. Let \(x,y\) and \(z\) be elements from the set \(\{t,l,r\}\), and \(A\) be an ideal, a left ideal and a right ideal of a ring \(B\), respectively. A subring \(L\) of a ring \(A\) for which \(L\vartriangleleft_xA\) will be called a \(*(x,y,z)\)-ideal if for every ring \(B\) such that \(A\vartriangleleft_yB\) also \(L\vartriangleleft_zB\). The main result of this paper is a characterization of \(*(x,y,y)\)-ideals and \(*(x,t,y)\)-ideals, for \(t\neq y\). The rings containing only trivial \(*(x,y,z)\)-ideals are also described.
