The authors consider a boundary value problem of Dirichlet type for singularly perturbed linear differential equation of \((n+m)\)-th order \[ \begin{aligned} &\sum\limits_{r=1}^m \epsilon^rA_{n+r}(t)\frac{d^{n+r}y}{dt^{n+r}}+\sum\limits_{k=0}^n A_{k}(t)\frac{d^{k}y}{dt^{k}}=h(t),\;t\in[0,1], \\ &\frac{d^iy}{dt^i}(0)=\alpha_i,\;i=0,\dots,l-1,\;\frac{d^iy}{dt^i}(1)=\beta_i,\;i=0,\dots,p-1, \end{aligned} \] where \(\epsilon\) is a small positive parameter, \(h\) is a continuous function on \([0,1]\), \(\alpha_i\) and \(\beta_i\) are real constants, \(l+p=m+n\) and \(A_{n+m}(t)\equiv 1.\) Using the standard techniques for solving linear differential equations, the authors derive asymptotic bounds on the solutions for \(\epsilon\rightarrow 0^+.\) Finally, the appearance of the boundary layer phenomenon at \(t=0\) is investigated.
