Quartic del Pezzo surfaces over function fields of curves (Q2440553)

The authors provide a classification of quartic del Pezzo surface fibrations over \(\mathbb{P}^1\) with square-free discriminant by their numerical invariants (i.e. the height). For small values of the height, the authors give explicit descriptions of some examples and study the geometry of the space of sections. The motivation comes from the fact that sections corresponds to rational points of the generic fiber. If one can show that there is a ``canonically'' defined space of sections whose Abel-Jacobi map to the intermediate Jacobian is surjective with rationally connected general fibers (after base change to an algebraic closure of the ground field), then there is a way to produce sections over the original field, and thus rational points in the function field.
