Let \(Q_{n}\) be a complex submanifold (not totally geodesic) of the complex projective \((n+1)\)-space \(\mathbb CP^{n+1}\), satisfying the algebraic equation \[ z^{2}_{1}+z^{2}_{2}+\dots+z^{2}_{n+2}=0, \] where \([z_{1},z_{2},\dots,z_{n+2}]\) are the homogeneous coordinates of \(\mathbb CP^{n+1}\). The complex hyperquadric \(Q_{n}\) is endowed with a natural Kähler metric from the Fubiny-Study metric on \(\mathbb CP^{n+1}\), by the inclusion map \(i:Q_{n} \rightarrow\mathbb CP^{n+1}\). The authors study the minimal totally real surfaces in the Kähler surface \(Q_{2}\). They give a necessary and sufficient condition for the minimal surface in \(Q_{n}\), by means of some functions \(\tau_{XY}\), \(\tau_{X}\) and \(\tau_{Y}\) introduced in [\textit{X. Jiao} and \textit{J. Wang}, Sci. China, Math. 54, No. 4, 817--830 (2011; Zbl 1218.53067)]. This kind of minimal surface, with constant curvature in the hyperquadric \(Q_{2}\), is totally real and flat. Finally, the authors consider the conformal minimal tori in \(Q_{2}\). They obtain that totally real minimal flat tori in \(Q_{2}\) must be totally geodesic. Also, they obtain a classification for the totally geodesic closed surfaces in \(Q_{2}\).
