Let \(\Omega\) be an open bounded and simply connected subset of \({\mathbb R}^2\) with smooth boundary. Let \(V\) be a vector potential such that \(\nabla\times V>0\) on \(\overline\Omega\) and let \(a:\overline\Omega\rightarrow {\mathbb R}\) be a smooth and positive function. This paper is concerned with the asymptotic analysis as \(h\rightarrow 0\) of the eigenvalues \(\lambda_n(h)\) of the differential operator \(P_{h,A}=(ih\nabla +A)a(ih\nabla +A)\). Under natural assumptions and a suitable normalized condition, the main result in the present paper establishes that for all \(n\geq 1\), there exist a sequence \((\gamma_{n,j})_{j\geq 0}\) and \(h_0>0\) such that for all \(h_0>0\), we have \(\lambda_n(h)\sim h\sum_{j\geq 0}\gamma_{n,j}h^{j/4}\) as \(h\rightarrow 0\). The proof combines changes of gauge, weighted Fourier transforms, and Agmon estimates with respect to a phase variable.
