Let \(Y\) be a Riemannian surface with curvature \(-1\). Let \(F\) be the eigenfunction of the Laplace-Beltrami operator with eigenvalue \(-T^2\), \(T>0\), \(N\) be the set of nodal lines of \(F\). In the paper is proved: If \(Y\) is compact and \(G\) is a geodesic circle, then for every \(Y\) and \(G\) there exists a constant \(C\) such that the intersection of \(N\) and \(G\) consists of a finite number of points and does not exceede \(CT\). A similar estimate is proved for the case when \(Y\) has finite volume and \(G\) is a closed horocycle. It is proved that this estimate is sharp.
