Given a smooth projective complex curve \(C\) of genus \(g\geq 2\), the moduli space of principal \(\text{GL}_n\)-bundles over \(C\) is just the moduli space of rank \(n\) vector bundles over \(C\), which is studied since the 1960s by Narasimhan, Ramanan, Seshadri, et al. In recent years the study of moduli space (or stack) of principal \(G\)-bundles for \(G\) a reductive linear algebraic group becomes more popular, mainly due to its connection with arithmetic geometry and the geometric Langlands program. This paper is concerned with moduli stack \(\mathcal{M}(G)\) of principal \(G\)-bundles and an ample generator \(\mathcal{L}\) of its Picard group. The finite-dimensional vector spaces of global sections \(H^{0}(\mathcal{M}(G),\mathcal{L}^{\otimes l})\) are the so-called spaces of generalized \(G\)-theta functions or Verlinde spaces of level \(l\). The group \(\text{G}_2\) has two full rank semisimple connected subgroups isomorphic to \(\text{SO}_{4}\) and \(\text{SL}_{3}\) respectively. The main results of this paper, Theorems 1 and 2, show that the space of \(\text{G}_2\)-theta fucntions of level 1 is isomorphic to certain spaces of theta functions associated to the groups \(\text{SO}_{4}\) and \(\text{SL}_3\).
