The asymptotic behavior is studied of solutions of the two-dimensional functional differential system \[ \dot x(t)=A(t)x(t)+\sum_{k=1}^{m}B_k(t)x(\theta_k(t))+h(t,x(t),x(\theta_1(t)),\dots,x(\theta_m(t))) \] with unbounded time varying delays. Methods are based on the transformation of the system to one equation with complex-valued coefficients and on the employment of some Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. Sufficient conditions for stability and asymptotic stability are obtained in terms of system parameters. Seneral special corollaries are presented as well as an illustrative example. Some previous results are shown to be particular cases of the statements of the paper.
