    The paper is concerned with the incompressible Navier-Stokes system in \({\mathbb{R}}^3\) \[ \partial u/\partial t - \nu \Delta u + (u\cdot \nabla ) + \nabla p = 0,\mathrm{ div }u = 0, \;u(0)=u_0. \] Unlike the existing results on the explosion of the maximal solution \(u\) providing lower bounds of type \(c(T^* - t)^{-\sigma_0}\), with \(\sigma_0 >0\), in this paper the authors establish a better, exponential lower bound for \({\| u(t) \|}_{H^s_{a,\sigma}}\), with \(a>0, \, s>3/2, \, \sigma >0\), whenever \(u_0\in (H^s_{a, \sigma}({\mathbb{R}}^3))^3\), \(\mathrm{div } u_0 =0\).
