The authors prove existence and multiplicity of positive and sign-changing solutions to the pure critical exponent problem for the \(p\)-Laplacian operator \[ -\Delta_pu=|u|^{p^\ast-2}u \;\text{ in } \;\Omega, \quad u=0 \;\text{ on } \;\partial\Omega \] in a bounded domain \(\Omega\) having nontrivial topology and discrete symmetry, and \(p^\ast= Np/(N-p).\) A global compactness analysis is given for the Palais-Smale sequences in the presence of symmetries.
