    A classical result from \textit{G. Sampson} and \textit{H. Tuy} [Pac. J. Math. 75, 519--537 (1978; Zbl 0391.42008)] gives sufficient conditions on the growth of the integrals \[ \int_{1/h}^{+\infty}f(t)e^{-ixt}dt\;\;\mathrm {and}\;\int_{-\infty}^{-1/h}f(t)e^{-ixt}dt, \;\;h>0, \] for the Fourier transform of a function \(f\in\mathrm{L}^{1}_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R})\) to belong to the Lipschitz class \(\Lambda_\alpha\). Different conditions in terms of the integrals \(\displaystyle\int_{-h}^{h}|t||f(t)|dt\) and \(\int_{-h}^{h}t^2|f(t)|dt\), \(h>0\), were obtained in [\textit{F. Móricz}, Stud. Math. 199, No. 2, 199--205 (2010; Zbl 1210.42008)]. The authors of this paper give modifications of the previously mentioned results to the generalized Lipschitz classes, defined using the \(m\)-th order symmetric difference \[ \Delta_{h}^{m}f(x) := \sum_{j=0}^{m} (-1)^{m-j} {m\choose j} f\Big(x+\frac{2j-m}{2}h\Big) \] and the corresponding modulus of smoothness \[ \omega_{m}(f,\delta) := \sup_{0\leq h\leq \delta} \sup_{x} |\Delta_{h}^{m}f(x)|. \]
