    The authors consider the parametric Dirichlet problem: Find functions \(u\) such that \(-\Delta_p u = f(z,u,\lambda)\) in \(\Omega\), \(u > 0\) in \(\Omega\), \(u = 0\) on \(\partial\Omega\), where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain with a \(C^2\) boundary. The following is proved when the right-hand side \(f\) has \((p-1)\) sublinear terms near zero or when the right-hand side is \((p-1)\)-linear near zero: There exists a positive real number \(\lambda^\ast\) such that for all \(\lambda\) with \(0 < \lambda < \lambda^\ast\) the considered problem has at least two positive solutions \(u_0\) and \({\hat u} \in \text{int}(C_+) = \{ u \in C_+ : u(z) > 0 \text{ for all } z \in \Omega; \frac{\partial u}{\partial n} (z) < 0 \text{ for all } z \in \partial \Omega\}\) with \(C_+ = \{ u \in C^1({\bar \Omega}) : u(z) = 0 \text{ for all } z \in \partial \Omega \text{ and } u(z) \geq 0 \text{ for all } z \in {\bar \Omega} \}\) such that \(u_0 \leq {\hat u}\) in \({\bar \Omega}\) and \(u_0 \neq {\hat u}\). For \(\lambda = \lambda^\ast\) the considered problem has at least one positive solution \(u^\ast \in \text{int}(C_+)\) and for \(\lambda > \lambda^\ast\) no positive solution.
