Left Baire-1 compositors and continuous functions (Q2448833)

Summary: We showed that the class of left Baire-1 compositors is precisely the class of continuous functions. This answers a characterization problem posed in the work by \textit{D. Zhao} [Soochow J. Math. 33, No. 4, 543--551 (2007; Zbl 1137.26300), p. 50] and affirmed the conjecture of \textit{J. P. Fenecios} and \textit{E. A. Cabral} [J. Indones. Math. Soc. 18, No. 1, 37--44 (2012; Zbl 1401.26003), p. 43]. Moreover, based on the above result we provide a new proof that the class of functions \(\mathcal B_{\mathcal S,\mathcal J}\) where \(\mathcal S\) is the class of all positive continuous functions and \(\mathcal J\) is the class of all positive constants as defined in the work by \textit{A. Bakowska} and \textit{R. J. Pawlak} [Tatra Mt. Math. Publ. 46, 91--106 (2010; Zbl 1224.26016)] is exactly the class of all continuous functions.
