A novel approach is proposed for uncertain time-varying discrete-time linear systems with polytopic bounded control, state and output and bounded disturbances. The approach is based on the interpolation between a stabilizing, outer low-gain controller that respects the control and the state constraints, and an inner, high-gain controller. The aim of this book is to propose an alternative approach to the model predictive control. The book consist of three parts: background, interpolating control and applications. In Part I, set theoretic methods in control and the optimal and constrained control are presented. In Part II, three cases of interpolating control are considered: nominal state case, robust state feedback case and output feedback case. In Part III, the implicit and explicit interpolating control for high order systems and the benchmark problem for the non-isothermal continuous stirred tank reactor are addressed. Each chapter includes interesting illustrative examples. The book is addressed to graduate students and scientists in control systems theory.
