Maps between certain complex Grassmann manifolds (Q2452004)

The authors study maps between complex Grassmannians using results in [\textit{H. H. Glover} and \textit{W. D. Homer}, Geom. Appl. Homotopy Theory I, Proc. Conf., Evanston 1977, Lect. Notes Math. 657, 170--193 (1978; Zbl 0385.57011) and Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 267, 423--434 (1981; Zbl 0479.55014)]. Under some restricted conditions, the authors show that any ring homomorphism of the integral cohomology of complex Grassmannians is trivial; that the set of homotopy classes of maps between such Grassmannians is finite and any map is rationally trivial. Further, the authors also show that any such map sends some space into one of its subspaces.
