Let \(K\) be any triangle with edges \(e_1, e_2, e_3\) and the constant interpolations \(\Pi_k^{(0)}\) defined by \[ \Pi_1^{(0)}=\int_K u dx /|K|,\, \Pi_2^{(0)}=\int_K u ds /|e_1|, \] where \(|K|\) is the area of \(K\) and \(|e_1|\) is the length of \(e_1\). The paper deals with the estimation of the interpolation constants \(C_1\) and \(C_2\) in the inequalities \[ \|u-\Pi_1^{(0)}\|_0 \leq C_1(K)|u|_1, \quad \|u-\Pi_2^{(0)}\|_0 \leq C_2(K)|u|_1, \] where \(\| \cdot \|, | \cdot |\) are the \(L_2\) norm and \(H^1\) semi-norm, respectively. The problem of estimating these constants is equivalent to solving the eigenvalue problem for the Laplacian with certain boundary conditions. In the paper, by assembling several known theorems and methods, a new framework is proposed to give high-precision bounds for the eigenvalues related to the interpolation constants. Several computational results and applications are given.
