The complex classical scalar field and its quantization is discussed in the framework introduced by the same authors in [Commun. Math. Phys. 329, No. 1, 1--28 (2014; Zbl 1295.81104)]. Readers with a background in physics should be aware that the nomenclature is slightly unusual: Here a \textit{complex} field is a field with a complex action (not necessarily a section of a complex vector bundle), and the \textit{classical} field is already defined as an operator valued distribution acting on a Fock space. Euclidean quantum fields are not defined as random variables for a probability measure on the space of tempered distributions, but as linear transformations on a Hilbert space. This proceeds via a quantization procedure involving a (time) reflection operator. The complex action considered in this article is given by a boosted Hamiltonian, and a number of results, in particular a generalized Feynman-Kac relation for the \(P(\phi)_2\) model, are proven.
